From the Very Beginning

This bag I just finished yesterday. I dyed the yarn knowing how I wanted it to look when I knitted it. I did a special effect on the bottom of the bag so it really sits up. Then around the bottom of the body of the bag I did a ribbing. That made the bottom more tailored and crisp looking. I placed the closure, a loop design, in a spot where I had less color. That is why it is off to the side instead on centered. The straps were knitted on up from the bag and then I used the kitchener stitch to attach it to the other side. I am now trying the same design in a Noro Kureyon yarn. I can't wait to see how it turns out. I am also writing down the instructions as I go so that I will have a pattern when I finish the next one. If you know anyone who would like to test the pattern, just let me know. Thanks for stopping by. Happy knitting. Jadele

My First Festival

Wow, it has been a while since I last posted. I have been busy creating new items for my first fair. I set up my wares in front of Magpie Yarn on High Street. It was fun talking with all the people and showing them my projects. I have been hand dyeing. It is great. Look at these striped scarves. I dyed them before I knitted them and the color change was automatic. I am still experimenting with this process. I think it is so cool. And speaking of cool, I hope you are staying as cool as possible in the heat. I sure have been getting a lot of knitting completed. My son has started school this week so I have no more excuses about those unfinished projects. Happy knitting, Jadele.

Been a while

Wow, it's been a while since I posted on my blog. I have been finishing up some things and trying some new stuff. I took a class at Magpie. It was knitting a lace shawl. I can't tell you how many times I ripped down to my lifeline. There were a couple of times that I almost gave up. You can see the results. I am very proud. The blocking went great. I have also been hand painting some yards for scarves. It is so much fun working with all these bright colors and of course these beautiful yarns. The blue, chartruese and red one is made of 50% merino and 50% mohair. It feels so soft. I am working with a blue one now. I will publish it as soon as I finish it. Check out my octagon sunshine. I knitted with hand-dyed roving and big, big needles. It was fun to watch it take shape. I am going to try alpaca roving next. I'll let you know. I hope that your summer is going well and not too fast. I look forward to hearing from you. Happy Knitting, Jan.

Just some old stuff.

Hey there, it's been a while since I have created a post to my blog. I have been busy knitting and sewing. This is what I have created. I have three new purses from some old sweaters. It has been fun to cut them apart and put them back together in a new way. I hope you like them. I'll be back soon with some new/old designs.

New Stuff

Hey check out my the new purse that I just finished. I wanted to use the three colors in this way. On my first trip around the circular needles I realized that oops! my yarn was on the other side. So, I just knitted back and forth for the rest of the purse and then sewed the seam up at the end. I have repeated this procedure on another purse that I will be finishing soon. I just listed an account on etsy. Check it out under The Insightful Knitter. I took a class knitting class yesterday at my favorite store, Magpie Yarn. I learned how to knit on beads. So look for that on some future felting projects. Well I am off to my projects. Thanks for stopping by. The Insightful Knitter.

Finally the finished product

Hi, I finally finished the project. It is a wall hanging. I added the tabs on the bottom. It was fun picking out all the colors and placing them just so. Let me know what you think. After this I will be collecting cool looking sticks. I will be making another one soon. Look at this other project I started last night. It was done with roving wrapped around a plastic ball and then an ace bandage was wrapped around that and put in the washing machine for a cycle. I haven't decided what to do with it yet but I got more roving and other things to wrap the roving around. Back to the washing machine. This is fun! Happy Knitting, Jadele.

My current project

Here is my latest project. I took a class at Magpie Yarn and learned how to do the pattern, "Lizard Ridge" from knitty.com. I don't know what to do with it yet. I was thinking about a wall hanging. What do you think? Happy knitting, Jadele
